Terms & Conditions of Carriage
These conditions govern the carriage of goods by RouteForgeX Ltd ("RouteForgeX", "we", "us"). By tendering goods for carriage you accept these conditions.
1. Definitions
Consignment means goods carried under a single tracking number. Customer means the sender or their agent. Carriage means the whole of the services we provide.
2. The contract
We carry goods as a private carrier and not as a common carrier. We may subcontract any part of the carriage on these conditions. The contract is formed when we accept a consignment for carriage.
3. Charges
Charges are calculated on the greater of actual or volumetric weight, plus any surcharges (remote area, oversize, customs handling). Charges are due without deduction or set-off.
4. Transit
Transit begins when we take possession of a consignment and ends on delivery to the address given or, where delivery cannot be made, on the consignment being made available for collection.
5. Liability and limits
Our liability for loss of or damage to a consignment is limited to the lower of its actual value or £50 per consignment unless a higher value has been declared in advance and an enhanced cover charge paid. We are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, including loss of profit or market.
6. Claims
Notice of loss or damage must be given within 7 days of delivery (or, for non-delivery, within 28 days of the date of carriage), followed by a written claim within 21 days. Failure to claim within these periods discharges us from liability.
7. Prohibited and dangerous goods
We do not carry money, bullion, live animals, hazardous or dangerous goods, illegal items, or any goods prohibited by law. Such goods are tendered at the Customer’s sole risk.
8. Customs
For international consignments the Customer is responsible for the accuracy of customs documentation and for any duties or taxes. We act as the Customer’s agent for clearance where required.
9. Force majeure
We are not liable for delay or failure caused by events beyond our reasonable control, including severe weather, industrial action, or border disruption.
10. Governing law
These conditions are governed by the law of England and Wales, and the parties submit to the exclusive jurisdiction of the English courts. Nothing in these conditions affects your statutory rights as a consumer.
